Principals Welcome

Welcome to our St. Patricks Boys National School website. Our school website will give you an overview of some of our school facilities and the activities/initiatives that we pursue.

Our school motto is, Ó gach duine a dhícheall - From each person their best. We have a holistic approach to the education of our students where we seek to provide a well ordered, caring, happy, healthy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed.

St. Patrick's Boys National School is situated in Gardiner's Hill, Montenotte, on the north side of Cork City. We are a Catholic boys primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Cork and Ross. Pupils of other faiths who respect the Catholic ethos are welcome to enrol. The school serves a wide catchment area comprising Montenotte, Dillon's Cross, Mayfield, The Glen and Lower Road areas. The academic tradition of St. Patrick's Boys National School dates back to 1841 when the school was located at St. Luke's Cross, Cork. We have had many illustrious past pupils over the years, including the writer, Frank O Connor, and Donal Lenihan, the former Irish Rugby Captain, to name but a few.

St. Patricks Boys has 5 mainstream classes along with one ASD special class. We provide an inclusive approach to education whereby each pupil is nurtured to reach their potential and, collectively, we strive for excellence.

Our Board of Management, school staff, Parents Association and entire school community work together for the benefit of our wonderful students and this creates a wonderful environment for our children.

The school prides itself on sporting pursuits, playing Sciath na Scol Hurling and Football, soccer, rugby, swimming but to name a few. We also pursue a wide range of initiatives like the Green Schools Flag, Active Schools, Health Promoting School and Accelerated Reader.
